Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Artistic skill is not needed. Art therapy is about self-expression, not creating perfect artwork.
-
Each session begins with a gentle check-in before moving into the main part of the therapy. Together, we decide on a focus for the session — this might be something you bring with you, or we may simply explore the art materials and see what emerges. You’re always free to share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
As you create, the art therapist may gently invite you to reflect on what you notice, supporting you with a blend of evidence-based approaches. Sessions are client-centred, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed, so you are always in charge of your pace and direction.
We close with a calming reflection to help you feel grounded before leaving. After the session, I write notes and plan for next time, so your journey is supported and consistent.
There is always the option for you to bring your own artistic ideas along.
